Schneeberg's Homer, Walk-Off Salvages Baseball's Skyline Split of Maritime

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — A five-run seventh-inning comeback, highlighted by Sean Schneeberg's (Columbia, Tenn./Del Oro) walk-off single, gave the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) baseball team an 8-7 win and doubleheader split over SUNY Maritime College on Sunday afternoon. The junior also hit a game-tying home run earlier in the contest.

A five-run SJBK rally in the sixth inning of game one forced extra innings before Maritime scored six in the bonus inning to claim an 11-5 win.

How it Happened (Game 1)

The Privateers hit the Bears for four in the second. Mike Santoriello (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) kept the visitors off the board over the next three innings.

A scoreless seventh forced an eighth inning, where a bases-clearing triple sparked Maritime's six-run stanza and an 11-5 win.

Maritime tacked on a pair of seventh-inning runs, giving them a 7-3 lead. The navy and gray's comeback bid began when a pair of runs crossed the plate on Leary's single. They came within a run on Collet's RBI single up the middle, 7-6.Serving as the game-winning run, Collet scored on Schneeberg's opposite-field knock to give the Bears the 8-7 win and doubleheader split.
