Baseball Swept by Mount Saint Vincent

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) baseball team dropped a pair of games to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening from Gregg Alfano Field in Patchogue, 0-11 and 2-18.

How it Happened (Game 1)

Homers in the second and fourth headlined a 6-0 start for the Dolphins through four innings. A leadoff home run in the top of the fifth kickstarted a five-run stanza, leading to an 11-0 advantage and win for the visitors.

Six different Bears recorded hits. On the mound, sophomore Justin Conaty (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) tossed four innings in the defeat. Classmate Ryan Wnorowski (Maspeth, N.Y./St. John's Prep) struck out four CMSV bats in relief.

How it Happened (Game 2)

After the visitors took a 4-0 lead in the first, a nine-run second inning saw them hold a 13-0. The Bears scored a pair of runs in the contest, a bases-loaded walk in the second and an RBI double from Lucas Collet (Toulouse, France/Lyc'ee Bellevue) in the sixth.

Mount Saint Vincent added five runs in the seventh to seal the 18-2 result.

Carmine Carbone (Middle Village, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) made the start and was dealt the loss. A solid relief appearance from Chris Arcati (Brooklyn, N.Y./Williamsburg Prep) saw the rookie hurl 4.2 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts.
