Bio

Kelly Hartney was promoted to head dance team coach following the 2012-13 season after serving as an assistant coach for one year following her graduation from St. Joseph’s in 2012.

Hartney was a part of the dance team during the 2011-12 season when they made their first ever appearance at the UDA Nationals at Disney.

Under the tutelage of Hartney, this past summer the Diamonds collected 12 superior ribbons at the 2013 UDA College Spirit Camp, the highest possible for the team to earn.

The Ozone Park native brings a tremendous amount of experience to the team as she has danced on a competitive level for 17 years. Hartney attended the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts where she studied ballet and modern dance before enrolling at St. Joseph’s in 2008 where she was a part of the SJC Diamonds all four years and was captain for two years.

Hartney earned her bachelor’s degree in Childhood Education in both special education and general education with a concentration in Human Relations. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree at St. Joseph’s in the field of Literacy and Cognition and will graduate in May of 2014. Hartney is employed as a special education teacher in the NYC Department of Education and resides in Queens.
