Bears Falter in Second Half Against Lancaster Bible

(LANCASTER, PA)  The backcourt duo of Ervin Maddox (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) and Justin Gist(Brooklyn, NY / Newsome) combined for 44 points in a 65-54 loss to AD3I opponent, Lancaster Bible College, opening a two-game road trip in the Keystone State.

The opening half found both teams going back and forth with seven ties and six lead changes.  Two late baskets by Maddox sent St. Joseph's into the locker room with a 29-24 lead.

After the Bears extended their advantage to its largest margin at 7 points early in the second frame, the Chargers went on a 12-0 run to capture the lead which they wouldn't surrender.  St. Joseph's cut the deficit to 4 points on multiple occasions, but Lancaster Bible pulled away down the stretch thanks to their improved 50% shooting in the half to take the 11 point victory.

Maddox led the Bears with 24 points, the sixth time this season, on 11-for-26 shooting from the floor and had three steals.  Gist added 20 points and grabbed a team-high six boards.  This is the first time this season that two Bears have scored 20+ points in the same game.

Four Chargers finished in double figures led by Billy Harrison who had 22 points.
St. Joseph's continues its four-game skid to fall to 4-9.  Lancaster Bible improves to 5-7.

The Bears travel to LaPlume, PA to face Keystone College (7-4) concluding their Pennsylvania swing.
