Monaco and McMaster Receive Player of the Week Honors

NEW YORK, NY – In reports released by the Hudson Valley Men's and Women's Athletic Conferences earlier this week, senior guard Lew Monaco was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week and sophomore Kristen McMaster was named Women's Swimmer of the Week for action ending December 13, 2009.

Monaco turned in a career week as the Bears suffered two tough losses to Rutgers-Camden and St. Joseph's-Long Island. Against Rutgers-Camden, the senior guard set two career highs, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing eight rebounds. He followed up that performance missing out on his first career double-double, amassing 17 points and nine rebounds. For the week, Monaco shot 46.2% from the field (12-for-26) and 40.0% from behind the arc (8-for-20).

McMaster, the team's co-captain, has placed in every event she swam this season. She continued with her strong performance against St. Joseph's-Long Island where she captured first in the 100 yard freestyle and narrowly missed out on a second win in the 50 yard freestyle by 0.24 seconds. In her other individual event, the 100 yard individual medley, she took third place before helping lead the 200 freestyle relay team to a win in the final event.

This is the first time either student-athlete has received the honor.
