Gist & McQuillan Earn Hudson Valley Player of the Week Honors

NEW YORK, NY – In weekly reports released by the Hudson Valley Men's and Women's Athletic Conferences earlier this week, junior Justin Gist (Newsome, FL/Newsome) and sophomore Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) were named Player of the Week for games ending February 7.

Gist led the Bears to a 3-0 record on the week, which included a 25 point outburst in a double-overtime, comeback win over CCNY and a 24 point performance in a victory over Albany Pharmacy to clinch the HVMAC regular season title. For the week, the junior guard averaged 21.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and shot 89 percent from the charity stripe (16-for-18).  It is his first time receiving the honor this season.

After receiving Player of the Week accolades from the USCAA, AD3I and HVWAC last week, McQuillan led the Lady Bears to two HVWAC victories on the week. The St. Francis Prep product scored 25 points and swiped seven steals in a victory over Albany Pharmacy that clinched the regular season title for the Lady Bears. For the week, McQuillan averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 steals per game.  McQuillan was also granted USCAA honorable mention.
