Coleman Selected as AD3I & HVMAC Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – Bears senior forward Donald Coleman (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth) did something on Saturday that hadn't been accomplished by a St. Joseph's men's basketball player in nearly eight years, and it earned him Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) and Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, December 12th, 2010.

In the revived annual rivalry between the Long Island and Brooklyn campuses of St. Joseph's College, Coleman scored a team-high 22 points on 10-for-22 shooting (45.5%) and pulled down a game-high 21 rebounds as the Bears fell to host Golden Eagles, 96-67, on Saturday night.

The last Bear to accomplish the 20/20 feat was Luke Caccavo on January 28, 2003 in a 91-90 triple overtime win against Mount Saint Vincent.

This is the first time in Coleman's career receiving either accolade.

Coleman, who tops the Bears in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg), will lead St. Joseph's when they return to action on December 30-31 to compete in the Wesleyan University Red and Black Classic. The Bears (2-7) will face host Wesleyan in the opening round.
