Rogowski Selected as USCAA & AD3I Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – For the first time in his career, junior Jan Rogowski (Woodside, NY/St. John's Prep) has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) men's basketball Player of the Week. The announcements were made by each association on Tuesday honoring the forward.

It is the first time a Bears' basketball player has received the USCAA distinction since Ervin Maddox in the 2006-07 season.  Donald Coleman was a two-time recipient of the AD3I honor last season. 

Rogowski had an 18-point, 18-rebound double-double vs. St. Joseph's College, Long Island on Saturday, December 10th. The 18 rebounds were a career best as the Bears fell to the undefeated Golden Eagles 86-77 in overtime. Rogowski hit 6-of-19 shots including 3-of-8 from the behind the arc and three of his four free-throw attempts.

Rogowski and the Bears are idle for the next two and a half weeks. St. Joseph's returns to action for their final games in 2011 on December 29th and 30th at the Centenary Holiday Tournament.
