The Bear Facts
After snapping a four game losing streak, the Bears look to continue back towards the .500 mark with a key conference matchup that has HVMAC tournament implications. A win tonight clinches a spot in the tournament as a likely 3rd seed, setting up a semifinal matchup against Vaughn. A loss tonight leaves a slim shot at elimination or a likely 4th seed and a semifinal tilt against Berkeley. The HVMAC tournament will be held two weekends from today (Feb. 18-19) at Albany Pharmacy.
With the entire squad seeing significant minutes against Sarah Lawrence on Wednesday, senior Justing Gist regained the scoring lead by a slight margin and enters at 13.6 a clip. Freshman David Louison, named HVMAC Rookie of the Week earlier this week, is right behind him at 13.5 a game and with 10.5 boards, is still the highest ranked freshman nationally in Division III in 12th overall. Junior Jan Rogowski rounds out the Bears averaging double figures with 10.5 a game.
On the Prowl
The Panthers are 3-3 in January after taking over a one month hiatus for winter break and enters as winners of two of their last three. Including tonight's game, the Panthers have three conference games left on their slate, with Pratt and Culinary remaining next weekend.
Sophomore Casey Redfern, two-time HVMAC Player of the Week, leads the Panthers averaging 21.4 points per game. Senior Peter Aiken comes in averaging 16.2 a game has two games in their last four with 20-or-more points. Redfern and Aiken control the paint, combining for 14.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks a game.

Last Meeting
Albany Pharmacy took a 93-83 victory in Albany last season. It was a four-point game at half with Albany leading, 41-37, but the Panthers shot 57 percent in the second half, preventing the Bears from regaining the lead. Donald Coleman had a career-high 32 points and Jan Rogowski had 24 points.
Accolades
Freshman David Louison was named the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week yesterday for the fifth time this season. Louison, averaged 20.5 points last week and shot 68 percent (17-of-25) in the losses to Vaughn and Medgar Evers last week. Louison also averaged 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists to fill out the box score.
Last Time Out
The Bears snapped a four-game skid and cruised to a 101-34 conference win over Sarah Lawrence at home on Wednesday. The Bears matched a school record 17 three-pointers and several Bears set career highs with sophomore Matt Marino netting a career-high 17 points. Freshman Jassiel Ferrer recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Kevin Alesi netted 15 points, draining five three-pointers. Freshman Vernon Maddox dished out a career-high six assists. Sophomore John Moore chipped in a career-best seven points.

St. Joseph's concludes their Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference league schedule with a short trip down Willoughby Ave to face Pratt Institute on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:30 pm.
