Megafu Tabbed HVMAC Basketball Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Freshman guard/forward Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional) has been named the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference basketball Rookie of the Week for games played through November 18th in an announcement made by the conference on Tuesday.

The freshman opened his collegiate career with a pair of double-doubles at the Regis College Tip-Off Tournament in helping the Bears capture tournament runner-up honors averaging 17.5 points on 83 percent shooting (15-of-18) from the field to go along with 10.5 rebounds. Megafu scored a game-high 19 points with 11 rebounds and two blocks in an overtime loss in the championship against a Purchase squad that knocked off #23 Hartwick in the opener.

Also recognized by the conference this week was sophomore forward David Louison (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) who was named to the HVMAC Honor Roll.  The sophomore averaged a near double-double with 17.0 rebounds, 9.5 points, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists helping the Bears to a 1-1 start.

With their performances, Louison and Megafu were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Megafu, Louison and the rest of the Bears return home to take on Vassar College tonight in their 2012-13 home opener at Brooklyn Technical High School starting at 7:30 pm.
