Bears Win Fourth Straight With Senior Day Win Over Lancaster Bible

BROOKLYN, N.Y.  – Sophomore David Louison (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) posted his second 20-point, 20-rebound game of the season and senior Thomas Karasinski (Staten Island, NY/New Dorp) drained four three-pointers on Senior Day leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team to a 73-61 victory over Lancaster Bible College on Sunday afternoon at Brooklyn Technical High School.

The Bears (14-10) win their fourth straight, building their longest winning streak of the season, and second-straight against Lancaster Bible (4-19).

Louison recorded his third-career 20-20 game and 13th double-double of the season with 24 points and 20 rebounds.  Freshman Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, NY/Nazareth Regional) posted his 14th double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds, also swatting away a game-high three shots. Karasinski netted a season-high 12 points draining 4-of-10 from three-point land.

Lancaster Bible placed four players in double figures led by Keith Keltner who scored 15 points. Dondre Perry added 12 points coming off the bench and Dan Karl and CJ Dunston contributed 10 points each.

The first half went back-and-forth with six lead changes before a pair of Louison free throws and a Karasinski triple broke a 23-23 tie and put the Bears up for good. A Matt O'Neill  (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) just before the break sent St. Joseph's into the lockers leading 36-31, the Bears taking advantage of eight rebounds on the offensive end to take an 11-0 edge in second-chance scoring.

The Bears opened the second stanza with five quick points on a David Ortiz (Brooklyn, NY/Christ the King) trifecta and a Megafu steal-and-layup expanding the lead the double-digits. The Chargers cut the deficit to five points but another five points unanswered pushed the lead back to double digits with 12 minutes left where it hovered for the remainder of the game.

St. Joseph's held a 59-41 rebounding edge powered by the duo of Louison and Megafu—both ranked in the top 10 in rebounding in the nation—who combined for 35 rebounds and O'Neill who secured a career-high eight caroms.

The Bears close out their 2012-13 regular season with on Tuesday, February 12th with a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference road tilt against Clinton Hill rivals Pratt Institute starting at 7:30 p.m.
