Megafu Crowned AD3I Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Sophomore Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) was recognized by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) as its men's basketball Player of the Week and was named to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Honor Roll after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team in scoring during the week.

Megafu continued his double-double ways for St. Joseph's, picking up his ninth of the season (No. 2 in Division III) by way of 19 points and 10 rebounds against Vassar College in the Bears lone game of the week. The sophomore helped his cause by going 6-of-7 (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe as St. Joseph's battled back from a 20-point deficit to nearly shock the Brewers on Tuesday.

The forward has now recorded double-doubles in each of the Bears last six games and has upped his scoring average to 15.3 points per game on efficient 54.1 percent shooting.

Megafu adds to his award collection, having earned USCAA Player of the Week once and is a two-time HVIAC Player of the Week. The sophomore has continued his good play after taking home AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November. St. Joseph's has dominated the weekly award given out by AD3I, with Megafu now a three-time recipient of the award this season while frontcourt teammate junior David Louison (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) is a two-time winner.

The Bears (8-7) have over a week off before travelling to Pennsylvania to face Valley Forge Christian College on Wednesday, January 22nd at 8 p.m.
