Louison Crowned HVIAC Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—After leading the Bears to a 2-1 week, scoring a career-high 33 points, and reaching the 1,500-point milestone, David Louison (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was awarded the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) men's basketball Player of the Week.

Louison averaged 24.0 points on 51.0 percent shooting from the floor and also averaged 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. On Monday, the senior opened the week by leading the Bears past York (N.Y.) with a 20-point, 10-rebound performance. Two nights later in a victory over conference rival Vaughn, Louison reached the 1,500 career-point mark in addition to pouring in career highs in points (33) and free-throws made (15). He also grabbed 10 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the year. The senior flirted with another double-double on Saturday at Staten Island, scoring 19 while corralling nine boards.

This is Louison's ninth career HVIAC Player of the Week and his third this season. The senior is now one of just nine Division III active players with at least 1,500 points and his 14 double-doubles this season rank third in DIII.

Averaging 15.6 points and 10.9 rebounds, Louison has helped steer St. Joseph's to a 12-7 record. He and the Bears will return to action on Wednesday night at the Hill Center at 5:30 p.m., tipping off the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader against borough foe Medgar Evers College. Live stats and video will be available at SJCBears.com.
