Etheart Twins Drop 21 Apiece but Sarah Lawrence Trips Up Men’s Basketball

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. — Sebastien Etheart (Hollis, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and Stephane Etheart (Hollis, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) both scored 21 points, but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team (1-8, 1-5 Skyline) fell to Sarah Lawrence College (5-5, 4-2 Skyline) on the road, 87-75, on Thursday night.

Sophomore Frank Reali (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan Wagner) added 17 points in the loss on 8-for-12 shooting for his sixth-straight game in double-figures.

How It Happened
The Bears closely led early on until a Reali layup capped off six unanswered points and the lead stretched to seven (16-9) at 13:20 in the first.

SLC tied things up two minutes later and the teams were neck-and-neck until another 6-0 run, featuring four freebies from Matt McQuillen (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's), gave SJC a 36-30 advantage with three minutes on the clock.

St. Joseph's held on to a 41-36 halftime lead as the team shot 50 percent from the floor and both of the Ethearts were in double-figures at the break.

The Bears opened the second half on a 16-9 run behind seven points from Seb. Etheart giving them the first double-digit lead of the game at 55-45 (15:18). After a Reali bucket to keep the lead at 10 with 11 minutes to play, the Gryphons went off for an 11-2 spurt cutting the deficit to one (67-66) at 8:28.

Soon after, seven unanswered gave Sarah Lawrence a four-point lead and they didn't look back, as a triple from Omar Jameleddine put them up 83-73 with a minute to play to seal the victory.

  • Sebastien Etheart scored his 21 on 7-14 shooting as well as eight assists, six rebounds, a block, and a steal.
