Manhattanville’s Sharp Shooting Sinks Men’s Basketball

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Senior forward Chris Mikos (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) logged his Skyline Conference-leading ninth double-double behind a 21-point, 12-rebound effort against Manhattanville College on Tuesday evening. However, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team (2-16, 1-8 Skyline) dropped an 87-59 decision to the Valiants (9-7, 6-3 Skyline) at The Hill Center.

How it Happened

Both sides were knotted at five in the opening 128 seconds of the contest. Manhattanville used a string of three-pointers to extend their lead to 21-8 before quick buckets from Mikos and Joseph Ghotra (Brooklyn, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) narrowed their deficit to nine, 21-12, with 11:36 to play in the period.

The visitors brought their advantage back to 11 shortly thereafter, increasing it to as many as 18, 32-14. However, the Valiant led 44-30 at the half.

Improving on their 50% three-point shooting percentage, the Valiants shot 17-of-28 from beyond the arc; ballooning their lead in the process and sealing their fifth win in their last six games.
