Mikos Named to All-Skyline Second Team; Mojica Lands on All-Sportsmanship Team

NEW YORK —  Leading the conference in double-doubles and rebounds, senior Chris Mikos (Freehold, N.J./Saint John Vianney) was selected to the 2021-22 Skyline Conference Men's Basketball second team and junior James Mojica (South Ozone Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team as announced by the league office this morning.

Mikos becomes the third Bear to ever receive All-Skyline men's basketball honors and the first since the 2015-16 season when Matt O'Neill '16 and Michael Megafu '16 were first and second team selections, respectively.

Mikos was one of just two players in the league to average a double-double with his 10.7 caroms a game and 42 rebounds pacing the conference. He finished second in the league in scoring pouring in 21.8 points a night, which is the highest scoring average in the Bears' Skyline era. The 6-foot-5 forward also ranked fourth in the league in assists (4.5 apg) and field-goal percentage (50.8%).

A one-time Skyline Player of the Week, Mikos highlighted his season with a 49-point outburst on 21-of-27 shooting with 11 rebounds and seven assists against Hunter — the highest single-game scoring total in the Coach Joseph Cocozello era. He also recorded the second known triple-double in team history with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists against York.

Mojica saw an increased role this season seeing his minutes triple over his freshman campaign. Appearing in 21 games, he also earned eight starts and totaled 81 points, with 61 rebounds. The junior guard scored in double figures for the first time in his career logging 10 points against Mitchell and Farmingdale State.

The All-Conference teams and Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards are voted on by the Skyline Conference's 12 head men's basketball coaches based on regular-season play.
