Reno Named Skyline Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week

NEW YORK — St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's basketball freshman Jonathan Reno (Staten Island, N.Y./Moore Catholic) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of November 14-20. The announcement was made by the league office earlier today. The guard is the first Bear to garner Rookie of the Week accolades since Bryan Medy in the 2018-19 campaign.

Averaging 16 points in the Bears' three-game week, Reno dropped 28 points on Yeshiva in the conference opener last Wednesday night, shooting an efficient 82 percent from the charity stripe. In the Bears' participation at the Cadet Mariner Classic over the weekend, the Staten Island native averaged 10 points in the two games, including 12 against Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon. Leading the team with 16 points per game this season, Reno totaled nine assists and five steals in the week.

Senior Joe Sheehan (Staten Island, N.Y./Gaynor McCown) was named to the Honor Roll as he averaged 13.4 points and 15 rebounds in three games.

The Bears take The Hill Center floor for the first time in 2022-23 as they host St. Elizabeth University on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on sjbkathletics.com/live.
