Three Named to USCAA National All-Academic Soccer Team

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – In an announcement made by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) earlier today, junior Omar Al-Dulimi (Brooklyn, NY/Manhatttan International), junior Jessica Gargano (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and sophomore Daniela Semilia (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) were all named to the USCAA National All-Academic Soccer Team.

It is the first time each student-athlete is receiving the honor. The St. Joseph's College men's soccer team is completing their inaugural season as a varsity team.

Al-Dulimi has started at midfield in all 10 games he has appeared in and ranks fourth on the team in scoring with two goals scored. Semilia was one of three regular female starters on the men's team and holds an assist on the first and only goal scored by a female this season. Gargano, also a female, was a regular substitute at midfield, appearing in all but one game this season.

In all, 91 women and 57 men were named to the USCAA National All-Academic Soccer Teams.

In order to qualify for the National All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. Last season, St. Joseph's had their most bountiful year, placing 17 student-athletes to the respective USCAA National All-Academic Teams.
