BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team suffered an 8-0 setback to Polytechnic Institute of NYU in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Aviator Sports Complex.

NYU-Poly (3-3, 2-0 Skyline) struck first in the third minute with Andres Torres putting away a cross from Omar Guerrero. Mamadou Dianko got behind the defense to score on a breakaway midway through the opening half.  NYU-Poly tacked on two late goals in the final three minutes to carry a 4-0 lead into the intermission.

St. Joseph's (0-2, 0-0 HVMAC) wouldn't find any answers in the second-half, however, as the Blue Jays continued their relentless pressure on the Bears net, finishing with a 33-3 advantage in shots, with 21 coming on frame. Sophomore Michael Miner (Schenevus, NY/Schenevus) finished with a season-high 13 saves in defeat.

Torres and Dianko each tallied a second-half goal to lead six different Blue Jays that found the back of the net.

Sophomore Deleon Johnson (Toronto, Canada/Roosevelt HS (N.Y.) and recorded Matthew O'Neill (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) recorded the two shots on goal for the Bears.
