Three Bears Receive USCAA All-Academic Honors

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Sophomores Raul Urshela (Orlando, FL/Colonial) and Marco Fuentes (Orlando, FL/Timber Creek) and junior John Moore (Glendale, NY/Archbishop Molloy) of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team were named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team as announced at the 2012 USCAA Soccer Championships banquet yesterday.

Urshela has started in 11 games, tallying seven goals with two assists, sharing the team lead in goals and points. The sophomore forward was named Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week earlier this week.

A tenacious defender, Fuentes helped anchor the Bears back line, starting in all 11 games he has appeared and playing the full time in the majority of those contests. Offensively, Fuentes contributed an assist on the game-winning goal in the Bears 5-2 win over Fisher.

Moore, a multi-sport student-athlete, receives the honor for the second time in his career, having received it last season in mens basketball and for the first time in men's soccer. The junior defender appeared in three games this season as a substitute.

USCAA National All-Academic Team members must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average in order to qualify.

St. Joseph's (3-8) concludes their second varsity campaign with a non-conference game against Yeshiva scheduled for Sunday, November 4th.
