2014 Men's Soccer Schedule Released

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team will open their fourth intercollegiate varsity season on Thursday, September 11 kicking off a 14-game schedule released today by head coach Vadim Chernyakhovsky.

The 2014 slate is fan friendly featuring all but one game in the five boroughs with 10 games played at Aviator Sports and Events Center – seven designated home games and three road contests.

The Bears will open the season with a non-conference tilt against a new opponent The New School in Manhattan's Greenwich Village before returning to Brooklyn for their home opener doubleheader vs. Fisher College (Sept. 17). St. Joseph's then opens their Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule in Hyde Park, N.Y. against Culinary (Sep. 20) and returns to the home borough for the first of two matchups against Medgar Evers College (Sep. 22).

The Bears then play nine straight games at Aviator, six of which are doubleheaders with the women's team – York (Sep. 25), defending HVIAC Champion Albany College of Pharmacy (Sept. 28), Webb Institute (Sept. 30), King's College (Oct. 9), Medgar Evers College (Oct. 15) and USCAA foe Washington Adventist University (Oct. 19). 

St. Joseph's will close out the regular season with tough league contests against 2013 HVIAC Tournament qualifiers Berkeley (Oct. 22) and Vaughn (Oct. 25), looking for a strong finish in hopes of qualifying for their first conference tournament in program history. The top four teams earn a spot with semifinal games played on Sunday, October 26 at the top two seeds and the championship held at The Culinary Institute of America on Sunday, November 2.
