Barrios Garners HVIAC Player of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Bencion Barrios (Brooklyn, N.Y./SUNY Ulster) was tabbed as this week's Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Player of the Week for his outstanding play on the pitch for St. Joseph's (Brooklyn).

Barrios is the first Bear in team history to earn HVIAC Player of the Week honors and it is the first weekly award for the junior defenseman.

The junior netted two goals, including the game winner, in St. Joseph's 11-3 win over Webb on September 30th. The win gave the team their highest win total in a season during the team's four-year history, while the 11 goals set a new team single-game record.

He now has tallied four goals and a team-leading five assists for the Bears this season, which had a three-game winning streak and moved above .500 for the first time in team history during the week.

St. Joseph's resumes play at the Aviator Sports and Events Center on Thursday, October 9th for a key Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against The King's College starting at 8 p.m.
