Blue Angels Fly Past Men’s Soccer

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Senior Beka Goduadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Lyceum "NK") scored his fourth goal of the season, but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team couldn't rally from two early goals and suffered a 7-1 setback to The College of New Rochelle on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

• Jovanni Garcia opened the scoring just 5:10 in with the first of his four markers and the Blue Angels found the back of the net again just eight minutes later and built a 4-0 lead at the break.
• Beka Goduadze spoiled the shutout in the 89th minute converting on the first penalty kick attempt of the season for the squad.
• New Rochelle doubled up the Bears shot attempts, 24-12, with the Bears managing five shots on frame.

For the Bears

• Goduadze's goal was his team-leading fourth goal of the season and the 22nd of his career..
• Julian Rodriguez played 58 minutes in goal and made four saves before entering the game as a position player for the first time this season, also recording a shot on goal.
• Michael Ortiz, Mateusz Georges and Cesar Oviedo registered the other shots for the Bears.

The Bear Facts

• This is the first meeting between the two schools.
• Seven of the nine Bears contests have been decided by two goals or fewer with this being the largest margin of defeat this season.
