Rodriguez Collects Second Skyline Rookie of the Week Award; Goduadze Named to Honor Roll

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Anchoring the defense for St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), freshman Julian Rodriguez (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) has been named the Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 2nd, the league office announced earlier today.

In SJC's 1-0 Skyline victory over The Sage Colleges on Saturday, the freshman goalkeeper turned aside 12 shots earn his first collegiate clean sheet. With the win over the defending league champions, the Bears (4-6, 3-2 Skyline) earned their third league victory and moved into a three-way tie for fourth place in the 12-team league.

Also recognized for his efforts last week was senior Beka Goduadze (Tbilisi, Georgia/Lyceum "NK") who was named to the weekly honor roll. The forward buried the game-winner against Sage converting from the penalty spot to score his team-leading fifth goal of the season and tallied both Bears goals last week.

St. Joseph's returns to action tonight to face York College (N.Y.) at Aviator Field in a road game starting at 6 p.m. Following tonight's non-conference affair, the Bears will play a crucial stretch of five straight league tests and try to solidify a spot in the six-team Skyline Conference Championship.
