Garcia Earns First Skyline Player of the Week Award

NEW YORK — Setting St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team single-game goals and points records in a runaway victory over Pratt Institute, sophomore Kenneth Garcia (Elmhurst, N.Y./Bayside) has been named the Skyline Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the first time in his career, announced by the league office today.

Garcia tallied a record-setting five goals and assisted on two others in the Bears' 8-0 triumph over Clinton Hill rivals Pratt last Friday in SJC's non-league finale. His 12 points broke another school record, both of which stood since 2011. Garcia led the Bears to eight goals which were the most scored and largest margin of victory since defeating Webb 11-3 in 2014.

The sophomore's 12 points are a single-game high for Division III this season and his five goals tie two other players for the most in a game in 2018. His 38 points and 16 goals this year lead the Skyline while he also ranks eighth in assists (six).

Garcia followed his record-setting performance with an assist in St. Joseph's 2-1 home loss to SUNY College at Old Westbury on Senior Day this past Sunday.

The Bears (5-14, 1-8 Skyline) conclude their first campaign under head coach Adam Brunengo on Wednesday (Oct. 24) at Sarah Lawrence. Kick-off is set for 4:45 p.m.
