Naci, Garcia Each Score Two as Men’s Soccer Topples Sarah Lawrence

YONKERS, N.Y. — Behind braces by Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) and Francisco Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Park Slope Collegiate), the St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's soccer team shutout Sarah Lawrence College 5-0 on Friday night at Fleming Field.

Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y./Academy of Finance and Enterprise) rounded out the trio of goal scorers as the Bears (3-5-3, 1-3-2) earned their first Skyline Conference win of the season.

How it Happened

The SJBK attack was in full force, firing off seven shots within the first quarter-hour-plus of the match. Come 25', Mejia opened the scoring on a feed from Naci. The France native played a role in the Bears' second goal, finding the lower left of the frame; giving the navy and gray a 2-0 lead into the half.

At the hour mark, Garcia beat a Sarah Lawrence (5-6-2, 1-4-2) defender before beating the goalkeeper in a 1v1 inside the box for his first goal of the night. Naci secured his brace at 76' when his shot went through the keeper's legs. Less than a minute later Garcia nabs his second on a dime from Matthew Kieblesz (Middle Village, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) in front of an open net, sealing the Bears' 5-0 result.
