Naci, Mejia Collect Skyline Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

NEW YORK — Scoring a combined four goals and distributing two assists in a 1-1 week for the St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's soccer team, Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) was named the Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y./Academy of Finance and Enterprise) earned Rookie of the Week honors. The announcement was made by the league office on Wednesday morning.

Naci, the Skyline's leading scorer with 13 goals at the end of last week, found the back of the net against 2021 conference champions Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday. He followed it up with his second multi-goal game, a brace in the Bears' 5-0 win over Sarah Lawrence last Friday night. With his three goals, Naci climbed to fifth in Division III in scoring.

Mejia, courtesy of a Naci pass, bagged his first collegiate goal against the Gryphons, the opening goal of the contest. The freshman also dished out a pair of assists, connecting with Naci later on in the match.

The Bears began this week with the Naci-Mejia partnership linking up thrice in a 3-1 win over SUNY Maritime. They return to action on Saturday, October 15 against the SUNY College at Old Westbury. Kickoff from Aviator Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. with live stats and video available on sjbkathletics.com/live.
