Naci Named Skyline Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference; Garcia Lands on Second Team

NEW YORK — In his first season on the St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's soccer team in which he produced an NCAA Division III-topping 22 goals, striker Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) was named Skyline Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He was also named to the All-Conference First Team. Rookie teammate Francisco Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Park Slope Collegiate) was named to the Second Team following a 14-point campaign. The announcement was made by the league office on Thursday.

Starting up top in each of the Bears' 16 matches in the 2022 campaign, Naci found the back of the net in all but two matches, opening his account with a brace in the season opener against Baruch. Finishing with six multi-goal games, the transfer sophomore bagged 10 goals in four games in early October — including his first collegiate hat tricks – as the Bears went 4-0 in the stretch. Naci also earned a pair of Skyline Offensive Player of the Week in that run for his efforts.

Naci's hat trick against Old Westbury broke the program's single-season scoring record previously set by Kenneth Garcia's 16 goals in 2018. He ended the season 11 goals shy of matching the all-time scoring record. Along with his 22 goals, Naci also led the nation in goals per game (1.44) and points per game (3.66) while placing second with 49 points.

Garcia made an instant impact, opening his collegiate career with an assist against Baruch. Finishing with six assists, the freshman midfielder dropped a pair of dimes against Old Westbury. Garcia also scored three goals on the season, scoring his first against Sarah Lawrence. He finished the season second on the team with 14 points, fourth in the league in assists and fifth in assists per game (0.38).

The two All-Conference selections linked up four times, combining to score 26 of the Bears' 34 goals.

Naci's and Garcia's contributions led the Bears to a seventh-place league finish, their best since joining the Skyline; finishing with a 4-4-3 conference record and a 6-6-4 overall mark.

The All-Conference and Player, Rookie, and Coach of the Year awards are voted on by the Skyline Conference's 12 head women's soccer coaches based on regular-season play.
