Farmingdale State's Second-Half Goal Flurry Sinks Men's Soccer

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's soccer team was dealt a 4-0 defeat on a rainy Sunday afternoon against Farmingdale State College.

How it Happened

The Rams scored their first goal of the match in the 14th minute, finding the near post. They would continue to test the Bears' defense but were unable to add to their scoreline in the first half, thanks in large part to six saves by Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy).

The hosts only needed five minutes to open their account in the second half as Anthony Bileddo's shot from the edge of the six-yard box found the net. Two minutes shy of the hour mark, the Bileddo scored his second of the match and the Rams' third; with their fourth coming in the 65th minute.

Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy), Arturo Franco (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millenium Brooklyn), and Alex Helfant (Quito, Ecuador/Alliance Academy International) were responsible for the Bears' three shots on the day with Naci finding the squad's lone shot on target.

For the Bears

The Bears' season-opening seven-game road trip concludes on Wednesday, September 27 with a visit to Kings Point as they face the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Live stats and video will be available on sjbkathletics.com/live from 7 pm.
