Bears Tennis Falls to York
JAMAICA, NY - The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team captured the opening set in two of the singles matches but fell to York College (NY), 8-1, on Tuesday at the York College Tennis Courts.
Sophomore Mohamed El Amri (Tangier, Morocco/American School of Tangier) notched the lone point for the Bears recovering from his 7-5 opening set loss to take the next two sets 6-1 for the win at #3 singles.
Junior Javier Bosque (Brooklyn, NY/LaSalle) played the closest match of the contest at #5 singles with each set decided by only a break. Bosque took the opening set 6-4, but couldn't close out his opponent falling, 6-4, 7-5 in the final two sets.
Senior Muhammad Ali Bhatti (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) captured the opening set against his #1 singles opponent, 6-2 but York turned the tables in the final two sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bears (0-6) return to the courts on Thursday, April 19th facing Brooklyn College in a road match starting at 4:30 p.m.
