Bears Tennis Overwhelmed by Lehman in Regular Season Finale

BRONX, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team concluded their 2013 regular season with a 9-0 setback at Lehman College on Thursday evening.

The Bears (0-10) finish the regular season without a win while the Lightning (3-13) end a four-match losing streak on their Senior Day.

The most competitive match of the night came at No. 1 doubles as sophomore James Hanophy (Albertson, NY/Holy Trinity HS) and sophomore Jeff Bonowicz (Whitestone, NY/Holy Cross) teamed up to take four games, succumbing 8-4.

St. Joseph's won at least one game in five of the six singles matches with senior Javier Bosque (Brooklyn, NY/La Salle Academy) and  junior John Moore (Glendale, NY/Archbishop Molloy) each taking home four games falling 10-4 in the most competitive matches at No. 4 and No. 6 singles respectively.

Hanophy and freshman Nolan Parr (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook Central) each won three games with Hanophy falling 10-3 at No. 1 singles and Parr making his collegiate debut at No. 3 singles also losing 10-3.

The Bears return to action this Saturday, May 4th as they take part in the HVMAC Tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center with the festivities scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
