BROOKLYN, NY – Men's volleyball continued their winless start Friday night against York at Brooklyn Technical High School. The Cardinals defeated the Bears in straight sets 13-25, 6-25, 13-25. St. Joseph's falls to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the HVMAC.
The Cardinals jumped out early on the Bears in all three sets, making a comeback nearly impossible. St. Joseph's tried to hang around the final set, trailing in single digits until late, but York was too much to overcome.
Maciej Sadowski (Brooklyn, NY/Cathedral Prep) led the Bears with 3.5 points and tied with Raymond Morales (Brooklyn, NY/Lasalle Academy) with two kills.
Terrence Sutton led the Cardinals with 11 kills in 12 attempts. Alex Niles and Ahmed Helmi each had five service aces. Niles also finished with a match-high 25 assists.
The Bears will travel up to Connecticut for their next match, a tri-match over the weekend with Albertus Magnus and Mount Saint Vincent.
