Torres and Urshela Sweep HVMAC Weekly Accolades

BROOKLYN, NY – Recognizing their efforts in a 1-1 week for the men's volleyball team, the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference named junior Martin Torres and freshman Raul Urshela Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for games ending March 4th, 2012.

In the victory over Medgar Evers College, the Bears second of the season, Torres and Urshela set a single-match school record putting away 15 kills each.  Torres also brought up seven digs and had 2.5 blocks.

For the week, Torres, a middle blocker from Ozone Park, NY averaged 3.14 kills per set and recorded a .197 hitting percentage and Urshela, an outside hitter from Orlando, FL, averaged 3.42 kills per set with a .213 hitting percentage.

The Bears return to action on Thursday, March 8th travelling to Bronxville, NY for an HVMAC matchup against Sarah Lawrence College starting at 6 p.m.
