Bears Volleyball Overpowered by Mount Saint Vincent

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team dropped a straight set decision to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-10), on Tuesday night at Brooklyn Technical High School.

Mount Saint Vincent (8-12) captured the first 11 points of the contest and never trailed throughout the match, combining for 44 kills at a .442 hitting percentage, while the Bears scrapped together 12 kills.

St. Joseph's (5-10, 3-3 HVMAC) was led by Martin Torres (Ozone Park, NY/St. Francis Prep) and Raul Urshela (Orlando, FL/Colonial) who had four kills each. Torres also adding seven digs to lead the defense.  Iqbal Husain (West Palm Beach, FL/West Palm Beach) dished out eight assists.

Chris Bacchi and Joe Ecock paced the Dolphins with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.  Michael Sin added 27 assists, four aces and seven digs.

The Bears will look to rebound, continuing a three-match home-stand at Brooklyn Technical High School hosting Yeshiva University tomorrow at 8 p.m. in a Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference tilt.  The team will also celebrate Senior Night, honoring Maciej Sadowski, Muhammad Ali Bhatti and Raymond Morales.
