Urshela Claims HVIAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior Raul Urshela (Orlando, Fla./Colonial) has been named the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Urshela amassed 21 kills (2.33 kills per set) and hit .269 to lead St. Joseph's to a 1-1 week to open the season. In the team's season opener, the senior slammed 14 kills and landed four aces in the Bears five-set triumph over Medgar Evers. Against York College, Urshela contributed seven kills and four digs helping the Bears stage a late comeback attempt that would fall short in four sets.

A four-time winner of the award last season, this is the eighth time Urshela has received the honor in his career.

St. Joseph's (1-2) returns to the court against borough foe Brooklyn College tomorrow at The Hill Center at 7 p.m. opening a four-game home stand.
