Men's Volleyball Picked Fifth in Skyline Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW YORK — The eight Skyline Conference men's volleyball head coaches have cast their votes in the 2020 edition of the preseason coaches poll, and 2019 Skyline semifinalist St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) was predicted to finish fifth following a 5-5 league mark and their first Skyline postseason appearance in team history.

Two-time defending champion St. Joseph's College-Long Island has been tabbed unanimously to finish at the top of the conference this spring. Head coach Bill Kropp's Golden Eagles (25-6, 10-0 Skyline in 2019), who are receiving votes in the preseason AVCA NCAA Division III Poll, received all seven possible first-place votes (teams are not allowed to vote for themselves in the tally) for a total of 49 voting points.

Conference returnee and associate member Ramapo College of New Jersey (15-16, 7-4 CVC) received one first-place vote and 42 points, while fellow associate member New Jersey City University (13-12) checks in at third place on the list with 35 points. 2019 Skyline finalist Purchase College, SUNY (13-16, 7-3) is listed fourth in the ledger, while St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn (6-19, 5-5), Yeshiva University (8-12, 4-6), College of Mount Saint Vincent (2-18, 1-9) and Sarah Lawrence College (4-16, 3-7) round out the poll.

The four-team, 2020 Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball Championship will take place at campus sites, with semifinals being contested on Thursday, April 2. The winners will meet in the championship final on Saturday, April 4, with the conference title and automatic bid to the 2020 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship on the line.

The Bears open their 2020 campaign hosting Eastern Nazarene College on Friday, January 17 at The Hill Center. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
