Men's Volleyball Drops Home Opener to Brooklyn College

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's volleyball team suffered a straight-set defeat to Brooklyn College – 18-25, 21-25, 14-25 – on Thursday night at The Hill Center.

How it Happened

Trailing 10-5, the Bears (0-3) closed the deficit to 10-9 following a timeout. However, a 5-0 spurt by the visitors broke the set open as the Bulldogs (3-3) took the first set 25-18.

A back-and-forth second set saw 12 ties and 10 lead changes with neither squad leading by more than two points. A Lordnel Saint-Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) kill gave SJBK a slim 21-19 edge however, a stretch of six unanswered points from the CUNYAC outfit saw them claim the stanza 25-21.

The two began the third stanza deadlocked at five all. Brooklyn College then took a lead they refused to relinquish as they closed the match on a 7-0 run, propelled by four aces from Zhao Ming Li, to win the set 25-14.
