Hartwig Garners Skyline Softball Player of the Week Accolades

NEW YORK — After batting .692 with a 1.308 slugging percentage over a four-game stretch, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) junior Ashleigh Hartwig (Santee, Calif./West Hills) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday evening.

Hartwig helped lead the Bears to a 3-1 mark in a four-game series with Mount Saint Mary — the first wins in program history over the Knights, who were either the conference champion or runner-up in each of the last five seasons completed. She finished 9-for-13 at the dish, with six RBI, five runs scored, two home runs, a triple, and two walks.

The reigning Skyline Player of the Year from 2019 highlighted her week with a 3-for-3 effort and two home runs in the nightcap of the Bears' 8-4 win on Friday. The pair of home runs were the first of the season and tied a program single-game record, which she already shared. It was also the eighth homers of her career, moving her into a three-way tie for fourth in Bears history.

A one-time Player of the Week and one-time Rookie of the Week in 2019, the award is the third weekly honor of her career.

Hartwig and the Bears (8-3, 6-3) return to the diamond this Saturday opening a four-game set with Purchase College with a road doubleheader at 11 a.m. (originally listed as a noon start).
