Hurtado Collects Skyline Softball Rookie of the Week Honors

NEW YORK — Following a .556 week at the plate, St. Joseph's University Brooklyn freshman Bella Hurtado (San Diego, Calif./Olympian) has been named the Skyline Conference Softball Rookie of the Week for games played April 18-24, the league office announced this morning.

It is the second weekly honor for Hurtado, who also received the award in the second week of the season.

For the week where she started in four games, the freshman infielder batted 5-for-9 and compiled a .714 on-base percentage, and a .556 slugging percentage. She accumulated five runs, two RBI, and four walks.

Over the doubleheader sweep of Purchase on Saturday, Hurtado went 4-for-5 with five runs scored — scoring four times in game one — and drove in a run. She was also perfect in the field at her second base positions over nine chances.

The Bears wrap up non-conference play on Thursday, April 28 in a road doubleheader against Drew University. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. with live stats and video at sjcbears.com/live.
