Women’s Basketball Drops HVWAC Game to Albany Pharmacy

ALBANY, NY - Women's Basketball was over powered by Albany Pharmacy this past Saturday to drop their seventh straight match.  Julia Serewko(Queens, NY / Mary Louis) posted a 12 rebound, 10 point double-double in the 72-36 loss.  St. Joseph's falls to 6-11 and 1-2 in Hudson Valley play while Albany Pharmacy improves to 10-7 and sits atop the conference at 3-0.

The Lady Bears jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in the first four minutes, but St. Joe's inability to make a field goal for nearly ten minutes allowed Albany Pharmacy to go 35-6 to close the half in firm control of the game.  St. Joseph's would not cut into the deficit at all in the second frame, the final score ultimately being Albany Pharmacy's largest lead of the game at 36.

The Lady Bears struggled throughout the game offensively, shooting only 20% from the floor and 8% from three-point land.  Albany Pharmacy converted on 51% of their attempts and outrebounded St. Joseph's by a 55-34 margin.

Serewko's double-double was her second of this season.  Freshman Joanna Marciniec(Brooklyn, NY / Baruch) added 8 points coming off the bench.  Albany Pharmacy had four players in double figures led by double-doubles from Kelly VanValkenburg (18 points, 13 rebounds) and Richa Mehta (17 points, 12 rebounds).

St. Joseph's returns to action at home on Tuesday night hosting Vassar College at Brooklyn Technical High School.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
