Ashley McQuillan Receives USCAA & AD3I Player of the Week and HVWAC Rookie of the Week Honors

For the week ending November 30, 2008, freshman point guard Ashley McQuillan(Brooklyn, NY / St. Francis Prep) was recognized as Player of the Week for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Division III Indepenents (AD3I) and Rookie of the Week in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC).

The freshman point guard for the Lady Bears had one of the most impressive weeks in St. Joseph's College history. In three games on the week, McQuillan averaged 25.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.0 assists per game. She shot 41.3% from the field including 40% from behind the arc and 81.8% from the charity stripe.

The highlight of McQuillan's week was a 33 point, six rebound, five steal performance in a 78-71 loss to Penn State Berks in the consolation of the Gallaudet Thanksgiving Tournament where she scored 22 points in the first half. This followed a 27 point, seven board performance against Gallaudet University in the opening round. For the tournament, McQuillan averaged 30.0 points and 6.5 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the six games of her short collegiate career, McQuillan is averaging 21.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.2 steals a game.

Freshman shooting guard Joanna Marciniec(Brooklyn, NY / Baruch) was also recognized for her play receiving HVWAC Honor Roll recongnition for her 14 point, six rebound, six steal performance in the 60-58 win over Medgar Evers on Nov. 25.
