Ashley McQuillan Named AD3I Student-Athlete of the Month

Freshman point guard for the Lady Bears, Ashley McQuillan(Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) was named Association of Division III Independents Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2008 in a press release from by the Association this week. This is the first time the honor has been bestowed to a St. Joseph's College athlete.

During the month of December, McQuillan was a two-time AD3I Player of the Week for December 2 and December 15.  Her month was capped by a 34 point, 5 steal performance in an 81-73 comeback win over Southern Vermont on December 13.  The 34 points total currently stands as the fourth highest individual game scoring total in Division III this season.  Her 34 point performance followed up a 33 point tally against Penn State Berks two weeks earlier which tied her for fifth spot in the same category.  For the month of December, McQuillan averaged 18.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.3 assists
