LANCASTER, PA – The St. Joseph's College women's basketball team jumped out to a 27-3 lead in the first nine minutes and never looked back defeating Lancaster Bible College in an AD3I matchup at the Horst Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) scored a season-high 28 points on 12-for-16 shooting, including 4-for-5 from behind the arc, to lead the Lady Bears (9-11) who shot 47 percent for the game, their second-best output this season.  Sophomore Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) tallied a season-high 11 points and grabbed five rebounds while freshman Janine Doran (South Ozone Park, NY/Archbishop Molloy) pulled down a game-high seven boards.

Lancaster Bible scored the first seven points in the second half cutting the deficit to 14, but that would be the closest the Chargers would come, St. Joseph's responding with a 14-2 run to build their largest lead of the game at 26 .  The Lady Bears lead remained steady above the 20 point mark until the final minute.

All 12 Lady Bears saw significant minutes and all but one contributed at least two points to the box score.  St. Joseph's held a 37-34 rebounding advantage and a 25-28 turnover advantage.  The Lady Bears combined for a season-best 19 assists, with Caitlyn Kakavas (Bayside, NY/St. Agnes) and McQuillan dishing out four each.

St. Joseph's returns to the hardwood on the road on Tuesday, February 2 for a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference showdown against the College of New Rochelle.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm at the CNR Wellness Center.
