Lady Bears Sweep HVWAC Weekly Accolades

NEW YORK, NY – In the weekly report released by the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference yesterday, Kristin Binckes (Brooklyn, NY/St. Savior) was named HVWAC Player of the Week and Teresa Mangan (Cleveland, OH/St. Joseph's) was named HVWAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2010.

Binckes exploded for a career-high 17 points, more than doubling her previous best of eight, leading the Lady Bears to a 73-62 wire-to-wire road win over City Tech in their only game of the week.  The sophomore shot 8-for-11 from the floor and pulled down a team-high five rebounds and had a trio of assists and steals.  This is the first time in her career to receive the honor.

Mangan amassed 14 point and dished out a game-high five assists and grabbed four rebounds in the win over City Tech.  Since the start of the new year, the freshman guard has finished in double-figures in each of her games and has averaged 13.8 points per game, leading the team in scoring.  This is also the first time in her career to receive the honor.
