Three Named to USCAA All-American, All-Academic Teams

UNIONTOWN, PA – The USCAA announced the members of the 2009-10 All-American and All-Academic Teams on Tuesday night at the USCAA National Championship banquet at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.  Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) and Justin Gist (Newsome, FL/Newsome) were given Honorable Mention All-American and Tara Gleason (Woodside, NY/Stella Maris) was named to the All-Academic Team.

McQuillan led the Lady Bears to their first Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) championship and first USCAA National Tournament appearance in four years.  She leads the team in scoring (14.8 ppg), three-pointers made (36), field goals made (146), free throws made (71) and steals (88).  The sophomore from St. Francis Prep recorded nine 20+ point games this season and was recently named HVWAC Tournament MVP.

Gist also led the Bears to their second Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) championship, averaging 27.0 points during the tournament and receiving HVMAC Tournament MVP honors.  He finished the season leading the Bears in scoring average (18.1 ppg) and free throws made (70) and ranked second in free-throw percentage (.745), field goals made (106) and steals (38).  Gist recorded six 20+ point games this season and finished in double-figures in all but one game.

Gleason maintained a GPA above 3.5 and appeared in 25 games this season averaging 2.0 points and 11.3 minutes played.  The junior guard recorded a season-high seven points going a perfect 3-for-3 from the field during a loss to Apprentice on February 14.
