McQuillan Receives All-Independent Honors for the Third Straight Year

KANSAS CITY, MO – For the third consecutive year, junior Ashley McQuillan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) has been rewarded for her outstanding play by the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I). An All-Independent first team selection in 2009-2010 and the 2008-2009 Freshman of the Year, McQuillan has been named to the All-Independent Second Team for her junior season.

McQuillan led the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game and made a team best 138 field goals. She also led the team with 2.5 steals per game and 25.5 minutes per game and tied for the team lead with 2.4 assists per game. McQuillan scored in double-digits in 18 games, including two games over 30 points. She scored a career-high 38 points vs. Briarcliffe on February 9th.

On January 29th at home against Berkeley, the junior scored her 1,000th career point, the first Lady Bear to reach the milestone since 2008 and the first to do so as a junior since 2007.

McQuillan was recognized during the season as well, being named USCAA and AD3I Player of the week for the week of December 12th. She was also chosen three times as HVWAC Player of the Week (11/30, 12/12, 2/15) and elected to the HVWAC All-Conference Team.

McQuillan's name was sprinkled across the AD3I statistical leader board. She finished fifth across the Association in scoring, sixth in steals and tied for eighth in three-pointers made.
