Marciniec and Doran Named to USCAA National All-Academic Team

UNIONTOWN, PA - At the banquet commencing the 2012 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Basketball Championships, senior Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) and junior Janine Doran (South Ozone Park, NY/Archbishop Molloy) were named to the National All-Academic Team.

In order to qualify for the National All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. To date this season, eight Bears and Lady Bears have received All-Academic honors.

Marciniec receives the honor for the second straight season and was also named to the All-Academic Cross Country team this past fall.  Marciniec, a two-year co-captain, started in 24 games this season and averaged 6.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.  She led the team in three-point shooting, connecting on 30 trifectas at a 33.7 percent rate.

Doran also earns the nod for the second time in her career.  Doran enjoyed a banner year and led the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and averaged double-digit scoring (10.6 ppg) for the first time in her career.  She also led the team in minutes (29.5), double-doubles(4), free throws made (100) and free throws attempted (155).  Doran was also an AD3I All-Independent Team honorable mention and an HVWAC All-Conference Team and All-Academic Team selection.
