BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After snapping a two-game winning streak in a loss to Southern Virginia, the St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) women's basketball looks to get back on the winning track when they face Cedar Crest College Monday at Brooklyn Technical High School.

Series History

This is just the second meeting between the two programs, with the St. Joseph's emerging victorious in their lone previous matchup. St. Joseph's competed in the Cedar Crest College Tournament last November, but didn't face the hosts en route to capturing the tournament championship.

Last Meeting

In their last meeting, St. Joseph's beat the Falcons 82-50 on November 29, 2012. Megan Moran led the way for the team with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Raccuglia was a rebound shy of a double-double (12 points, nine rebounds) in the victory.

The Lady Bear Facts

In the loss to Southern Virginia, Samantha Retas secured her second straight double-double and the 26th of her career. She led all scorers with 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Lady Bears. The senior now leads the team in points per game (15.0) and is second in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) with 14.0 rebounds per game.

Both her and Destiny Marino are finding their rhythm scoring baskets so far. Through three games, they both are in the top five in the HVIAC in field goal percentage, as Retas is shooting an even 50% while Marino shoots 47.6 from the field.

Lady Bears Last Time Out

Turnovers plagued the Lady Bears as they were defeated by Southern Virginia University, 76-64 last Saturday night. Samantha Retas tallied her second straight double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Jamilynn McGowan also poured in 15 points, while freshman Destiny Marino added 10 points, five assists and seven rebounds. Samantha Simon contributed 11 points of the team's 15 bench points, her first double-digit scoring total in her career.

St. Joseph's tried to claw back in the game, getting the deficit to within eight after trailing by double digits, but they struggled to find any kind of offensive rhythm due to the full court pressure and could not cut the deficit any further.

The Lady Bears have been a force on the rebounding end so far this season. Through the first three matchups, they lead all of NCAA Division III with a rebounding margin of 30.1 boards.

Fly Falcons Fly

The Falcons are led by Breonna Lewis, who averages a double-double so far on the season. She tops Cedar Crest in both points per game (13.2) and rebounds per game (10.6). The senior recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds in their last game against Morrisville State.

Taylor Osley also averages double figures in points for the team (10.6) and is their most efficient three-point shooter, leading the team shooting 44% (7 for 16) from behind the arc.

Following this matchup, the Falcons open league play in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) when they face Keystone College on Wednesday.

Cedar Crest Last Time Out

The Falcons hosted the Hilton Garden Inn Tournament in Allentown, Pa. last Saturday and Sunday, dropping both two straight decisions to Penn State-Abington and Morrisville State College.

Next Up for the Lady Bears

St. Joseph's goes on the road to Riverdale, N.Y. as they will face off the College of Mount St. Vincent, which is the first part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Tip off is at 5:30 p.m.
