Marino Collects Skyline Player of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — After posting a career effort against a Division I foe, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) sophomore guard Destiny Marino (Middle Village, N.Y./Christ the King) was selected as the Skyline Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 29, the league office announced today.

In the Lady Bears only game of the week against NJIT last Tuesday, Marino led all scorers pouring in a career-high 24 points while logging a season-best 37 minutes of playing time. The 5-foot-4 sophomore shot 7-of-17 from the field and 8-of-9 from the charity stripe and grabbed six rebounds against the much taller opposition that had nine players 5-foot-9 or taller.

Last year's four-time HVIAC Rookie of the Week and HVIAC Rookie of the Year, collects the first Skyline honor by a women's basketball player this season after appearing on the league honor roll two weeks ago.

Marino and St. Joseph's (0-5, 0-0 Skyline) open conference play tonight on the road at The College of Mount Saint Vincent, closing out a six-game road stand to open the season. The Lady Bears will lead off the doubleheader with the men with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff with live stats and video from Riverdale, N.Y. available on SJCBears.com
