Marino Garners Second-Team All-Skyline Recognition

NEW YORK — The second-leading scorer in the Skyline Conference who led the St. Joseph's College to a berth in the Skyline Conference Championship in their inaugural season in the league, sophomore Destiny Marino has been named to the Skyline Women's Basketball All-Conference Second Team as announced by the league office today.

Marino accounted for over a quarter of the Lady Bears offensive output averaging 17.9 points per game and also pulled down team-leading 7.6 rebounds an outing, ninth in the league. The 5-foot-4 guard from Christ the King scored in double figures in all but two games, assembling a streak of 19 games with double-digit scoring. Marino also finished with 20-or-more points in nine games, highlighted by a 32-point, 13- rebound effort at Hunter on December 13.

The Middle Village, N.Y. product also recorded seven double-doubles and shot 36.8 percent from the field and 70.6 from the charity stripe. Her league-leading 409 free-throw attempts also ranks ninth in Division III

A one-time Player of the Week this season, Marino adds to her All-Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team and All-Association of Division III Independents honors collected at the end of her rookie campaign.

The Lady Bears concluded their first season in the league in sixth place with a 7-19 record and a first-round defeat to No. 3 Old Westbury.

The all-conference teams are voted on by the Skyline Conference's nine head women's basketball coaches.
